I picked this up a few days ago and mentioned it in another post with a bunch of other stuff. I am trying to ID the manufacturer and model if possible. I am thinking this may have been a home built kit. The workmanship is not quite up to par with factory built in my opinion. But I may be wrong on that. I would assume the additional IF transformer is an add on possibly as a replacement for the original which is still in place. I have not checked it out yet.

So what do you all think could be a possible manufacturer and model?.

Good catch, didn't see that. I missed out on the recent Radio Manufacturers of the 1920's sale so don't have any resource to positively ID this set.

It does look a lot like the NR-7, but a bit fancier. I see from google books online radio manufactures of the 20s Vol 2, on page 10 they mention a special NR-7. I wonder if it could be that model?

Any thoughts?

It was sold as a kit in which you assembled yourself and housed it in whatever cabinet you wanted to house it in. It's a fairly common kit model as I've seen many examples of this in ads and at swap meets.

Well that is in keeping with the lesser quality of workmanship I mentioned earlier. I couldn't imaging a factory sending out something of this quality. Also the lack of identification markers on the case and front cover indicate a kit.

Well that's all good to know. The five 201A tubes and parts alone far exceed the price I paid for it. I am a sucker for 20s battery sets.

For this particular radio, I would have to agree with you.
