Okay, I've gone over to a customer's house and returned with his radio chassis. I never thought I'd have so much trouble identifying a Zenith but, I'm having trouble identifying it.

There are no labels or markings to be found inside the cabinet. A small palte on the chassis has the number S368234. I assume it's a serial number.

The radio looks a lot like the 7S363, and since I counted 7 tubes I thought that might be it -- until later when I realized I forgot to count the eye tube. Also, the Radio Attic shows the back of the set, which has either an 8" or 10" speaker. This one is 12".

Tube count is 6X5, 6J8, 6J5, 6P5, 6AC5, 6K7, 6F5, and uh, the eye tube, 6U5.

Getting this thing out of the cabinet was fun, as there is an umbilical cord that goes to the tone organ -- which is surgically attached to the front bezel. I've had to carry this around, bezel, glass, and all. Don't see an easy way to separate them.

I'll continue my search in the books, but in the meantime if this rings a bell with anyone I'm open to hear.

Already extracted a dead mouse . . . yuck!

If it's an 8 tuber and looks like the 7S363, might it be the 8S359?

Looking up the serial number on http://www.oldradios.com/reference/zenith.htm, I think it is a 8-s-359 from 1939. I have the same model.
