This may have been done before, but I cannot find anything recent. My recent thread (Specialize or play the field) gave me an idea. Since everyone here clearly loves radios, I thought it may be cool to see some baby pic's, pictures of your baby (favorite radio in your collection, or from the past).

So, post up some pic's of your fav's. This may help me find some new favorites as well. Guess that's kind of the idea, as my knowledge of what's out there is limited to the past few months, and what I see scanning eBay, craigslist and the occasional finished product here.

C'mon, show them off!

Well, since you had mentioned the nic, "boomerang" in the other thread, here's one I own, just not a Zenith. The one on the right is a small Motorola to which I added pinstripes;

I`ve been a member/lurker here a long time but this is my first restoration.I bought this radio about 20yr ago. Its a Supertone which was probably a dept store brand, and I didn`t find a schematic till the job was done. It s the same as a Traveler 5001. I cleaned and recapped it and it worked sorta but not good. It had a 50L6 audio tube and I thought it belonged there but it was getting hot and volume was low. When I found the schematic it called for a 35L6 and after I swapped it out it started sounding like a real radio. Still needs tweaking but Im proud of my accomplishmens as it didnt do anything when I started. Its been fun but I couldnt have done it if it had not been for the plentiful information on this board. Donnie

All beautiful radios, keep them coming.

Fifties, I have to say until now I hadn't even considered a bakealite radio. But whatever that one on the left is?!?!?!? Reminds me a a 59 Cadillac

Cornholio (love the screen name!) what is that? That is gorgeous! Looks like the empire state building

Only 2 radios, I don't have a collection, most don't stay here long. :)
A-K and a 1961 Maggie tube stereo.

For me, it's my Zenith 12S266. Listening to it as I type this.

From a classic Art-Deco styling point of view... this 1936 era Packard Bell 35 is one of my favorites.
I think it has real class.

BTW:
(I actually bought it in 2007 for $62.00 +shipping via Ebay from the "Radio Remembered" book author Mark V. Stein)

One of my babies (and it's a midget); 1939 Airline which was featured on the 1939 Montgomery Wards Christmas catalog. There's a long story to go with it but I won't relate it here. Plays really well and is very sensitive---using a mandatory long wire antenna.

Glad you like it; it's a 1950 Truetone, and it too is nic-named, "The Boomerang". The grill cloth is not original, but rather a bit more sparkly...A sacrifice from my wife (one of her blouses). I restored it's electronics, and with it's larger speaker sounds really good.

I have one just like it...A farm set. I added a transformer inside, along with a Diode and capacitor rectifier circuit, so I can just plug it into a wall AC outlet. It does need an external antenna wire though.

I use mine with a battery pack I made up from 9V batteries. This chassis in this radio is beyond super clean.

Your's must have a different chassis then. Mine has a vibrator that requires six volts at about one and a quarter amps.

OK I'm absolutely falling in love with the zeniths with the triangular dial face! The design seems far ahead of it's time. Do these dials have a nic name? Star Trek dials maybe?

This thread is doing exactly what I asked, as most of these radios, I'd never seen before. My other thread about patina is opening my eyes, and changing how I thought a radio "should" look. I'm so happy I found this web-site before finishing my first project. You all are a wealth of information, and I am a sponge.
