That is one heck of a deal! The photofinish is in pretty good shape maybe only needing a little touchup here and there.

Just bought one of these, in very similar condition - for $125 so congrats on that deal.
Love the dial.

Thanks Musicman, next time I will post my finds on another forum. I found this one by accident. I was there to look at a Zenith 6 tube farm set that I had seen a day earlier but was gone the next day. I happened to be leaving when I found this on the top shelf of another booth. I powered this up with a variac and the heaters lit up but no sound except a very faint hum from the speaker.

One thing I see wrong. The top cap of the 6F5G tube is missing. There should be a wire with a cap loose inside near the 6F5. If there is enough wire sticking out of the top of the tube, it can be soldered back on.

Hope this helps get it functioning again! :D

Nice find!
Whatever you do, (you may already know) is NOT strip the finish. Ugly wood inderneath, not burl as some will think.
The photofinish is in great shape. I have one I found similar condition as far as scratches, etc.
All I did was use Liquid Gold on a cloth, and rubbed the cloth in some Johnson's paste wax.
The liquid will soften the wax allowing it to spread evenly.
The oil will help darken the scratches, and the wax helps seal it in.

You can also use the Howard's beeswax/lemon oil mix for similar results. I wouldn't even try and touch up the scratches, sometimes the color just isn't right and you end up with repairs that stick out.
The scratches are part of the set's history, give it a try.
The tops on these are usually in bad shape too, but the Liquid Gold and wax will also minimize the damage.

I have a post somewhere here showing how I repair the missing tube caps, even if there is no wire nub sticking out of the glasss. With a nub, it is better.

And at least three likely original tubes and those knobs look original.
