Greetings, I found this BF Goodrich radio, on the back it says model SD 75, the BF Goodrich Rubber Company Of Canada, Limited..... Kitchener Ontario. Other then the broken knob which I will be posting in the want to buy section, its in pretty nice shape. I looked up and down the web and I am unable to find any information on this radio at all, even with the model number. Any information, schematic, or anything you ladies and gentlemen could find would be greatly appreciated. A dial knob would probably be a miracle. I even checked under Mantola. There is a set screw on the good side of the tuning knob. Thanks, Vin Attachment:

oldmusicman, Thanks for the info, I'm baffled that the internet yields no info. I'm sure someone out there knows someone out there knows something about this radio, it can't be that rare. Vin

You can be certain that BF Goodrich did not manufacture the radio, they purchased it from a radio manufacturer who built generic radios that were sold under different brand names, hence the decal on the front of the set. In some ways, the set resembles a Canadian General Electric set that I have seen before, but it is more likely from a smaller manufacturer.
Might ask Ed Kraushar if he has seen this set, usually he looks at any Canadian topics. I'm going to add the word "Canadian" to the title of this topic just to attract the attention of other Canadian members. Someone is going to recognize who built this set, and hopefully the schematic will be listed in the RCC data.

Dennis is correct about his assertion about a possible tie in to another company and in Llyoyd Swackhammer's book "Radios of Canada" and I quote "Distributed via RCA from the manufacturer to the retailer the B.F. Goodrich Rubber Company of Canada,Kitchener, Ontario. They made automobile radios and also AC/DC plastic mantle radios" I don't think anything is listed in RCC schematic wise ... at least under Goodrich possibly under RCA. It might be covered under The Canadian RCA Redbook Volumes. Ed might have more info. Best regards Ken

MYE Canada lists a Goodrich G-47. 6BA6 (2), 6BE6, 6AT6, 6AQ5 & 0Z4A.
RCC index lists a G-47 and a G47A in their 1947-48 series For schematic they refer to RCA Victor pages 102 & 103 in RCC.
Now the problem is that the G-47 is an auto radio and no other mention of a Goodrich radio is made. I wonder if Electrohome may have made it for Goodrich as they are in the same city, Kitchener.
Ed.

Ed do you know of any good books on Grimes/Electrohome? i live near to where there headoffice was and some of thier manfucaturing premises. Wellington St. in Kitchener had one of there plants, it still stands but obviously has become something else now. To me they where an interesting company who as you say made radios etc for other firms, just seems there is not a lot of info on exactly what they made.

Thank you guys for your efforts and interest.... It's always interesting when it's a mystery that may be solved. I found the following radio (courtesy of Jake Duftin, Radio Attic Archive). Interesting in that it has the Firestone label on it, It's similar but not the same except for the tuning knob I need. What I found also in photo 2 of that link is that the label on the bottom is exactly the same as that Goodrich I have, of coarse the name and model number are different. In photo 3 the back is exactly the same with the pre mentioned differences. The Firestone looks painted or painted bakelite as the bottom is worn of paint, and the Goodrich appears to be plaskon. The radio you linked to directly above is the one that I was thinking of in a General Electric earlier. I had a Canadian GE, lavender plaskon, which was identical to that Firestone set in every way except for the color and material of the cabinet.
If you want to see some other sets with a similar tuning knob, look at the GE YRB60-2 on Radio Attic. Possibly all those sets had cabinets and knobs made by the same supplier.
Note that Firestone was not a radio manufacturer either, anything that was sold under that brand name was built by someone else.

I think this radio has the same chassis as Canadian General Electric model 751. Schematic can be found in Radio College of Canada, page 141. I repaired a "Senator" radio that looked exactly like yours using this schematic.
Can't find the schematic on Nostalgia Air, but if you PM me, I'll be happy to send you a pdf.

Wow, thank you guys, I can't believe the help.
I finally opened this radio up and the tube lineup was:
12SQ7 35Z5GT 50L6GT 12SK7 12SA7
All GE tubes, all strong.
Thanks again, Vin
