I have the Sams Dial Cord Stringing Guide from years 1938 - 1947 it does not show the model 52X but does have models 52C and all 51 - 53 mostly A C version using the same dial sting setup #73. Looks like it may be a simple setup. One string in is contect to large tuning pully and wraps around the small pully 1 1/2 turns, them back up to the large pully attached to a tension spring. If you have only two pullys this may work for you I can scan the drawing if you like and post it here for you
