Hi,

Am total n00b to all of this! My brother loves collecting antiques and other things, and found a Marconi radio and asked me to find more information, but I haven't had luck so far (or maybe I am just not looking in the right place).

I don't have any pictures as he is not near any internet, but was told it's a Marconi, with the following info to be found "154/1540055, Watts 30).

Any information you can provide would be amazing! Thanks for your time :)

Welcome to the Forums

If it is a Canadian Marconi and model 154 it was made for the years 1939-40. It should have 5 tubes and he can check out the physical layout of the chassis (below left of the schematic) by following this link.
I know you explained he doesn't presently have internet access but this if is for reference when he does.

Tell him to check if there's a patent tag usually listed below the model number for the years inclusive usually with the last year indicating the date of that production year

Possibly similar.... at least the dial face and knobs but maybe not the same cabinet to the 180 or 181 models listed here....

Maybe you can confirm if it is a Canadian Marconi and the patent year if he finds one.
There are also European models as well.

Best Regards

Ken

Awesome - thanks for that! He has confirmed that it's Canadian, and I've printed off those sheets for him too :) Any idea on what a value would be for something like this?

Thanks again!

If it is a 154 it looks like this. It is not worth a great deal of money.

Not correct. The only thing the latest patent date will tell you is the item was not made before the latest patent date listed. It could have been manufactured for years after the last patent date marked on it.
