Hey Y'all,
I've recently acquired a Pearce-Simpson CARIB 150B HF ship to shore transceiver. Would anyone happen to have any information on this radio? Kens Electronics has a Fotofact for it and I ordered a copy but other than that I can't seem to find any info online anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Steve

What are you intending to do with it? The marine band used to be 2 to 2.5 MHz but about 40 yrs ago moved to VHF-FM. What is left on the old marine band is for off-shore commercial work where longer range is required, but using SSB transmission only. So the old AM-DSB transceivers like yours are pretty much boat anchors.

Thanks Dave, I figured as much but I haven't planned on doing anything with it as of yet. I was just looking for information and couldn't find any.

Steve, I have had a couple of Pearce-Simpson "Bimini" radiotelephones. I've thought about converting them to 160 meter operation. It would require a bit more work, but they might even go to 75 meters. I remember listening to the old marine band back in the '60s on my novice SX-28A, outside of Philadelphia. On a cold winter night, it was common to hear tugs on the Mississippi and tankers at Port Arthur TX. Great memories. I presently have 3 or 4 old marine radiotelephones. I just enjoy the old radios. Take care,
Craig, K3NQO
