After the mechanical and cabinet restoration we have been storing Shorty in the basement in waiting for us to move,, Then it started to rain and we started to get water in the garage making the basement humid so Shorty came up to visit,,,,
I ordered a new Grillecloth last week to finally finish off this set,
Now for those of you who have seen this set will notice that aside from the poor lighting (It was nighttime) This thing is SMALL ! ! ! !
But BOY what big sound from a small guy!

That is a very cool looking radio Peter and with a 12 tube Zenith chassis I bet it does sound big!

I just have to ask, is shorty original or a larger console cut down?

Shorty is a cut down 12-S-265 that came with a big lot of Zenith radios I bought,
Under first impression I was thinking of scrapping the cabinet, But second thought I never restored a console cabinet and I thought this would be a good project,
Someone had cut 13" off the base making this stand at 31" tall and the work they did way back was flawless.
So I did this

I never bought it up into the living space until last night and it sure looks so small I will need to make it a table top radio for sure.!.!
I just could not toss it,
Now I just am not sure what to do with it except to enjoy it's BIG 12 Tube Zenith sound!

Imagine incorporating this radio in an entertainment center cabinet/bookshelf unit to get it up off the floor.

I sure like "Shorty"-He looks alot lower than 31" to me in the photos though.
Put him on top of an end table or closed piano and let him belt out those Sinatra songs !!

I still need some block pattern for it,
I have another 12S265 which needs some clothe and I may take that one and transplant the good upper part into "Shorty",
Just not sure, Kinda long term project.
Why, You have any block pattern for me?
Peter
