While looking through a Riders manual I spotted a 32V farm radio. I was curious about the means of getting B+ and was surprised to see that the + 32V was the B+. I thought the "space charge " tubes of '60's were first to use low B+ voltages. Interesting.

How is this for a handsome Farm Radio? Looks a lot like the RCA 56X.

32V is enough for some things, like regen. detectors in one-tubers that used 22 1/2V batteries for B+. Does seem that it would limit your power levels for a speaker driving pentode though. I have a 6V farm set that uses a vibrator to allow stepup to a much higher voltage. Instead of a pentode for power out it uses a 19 in push pull for audio output.

Here's a first -- a thread being moved *from* the Clubhouse *to* Antique Radio Discussions. Sending it here because it's an interesting antique radio related topic.
