I recently purchased an AK Model 52. It has an all metal case and looks to be in pretty good condition. I will have to replace some tubes as they may be burned out. Does anyone have any ideas on restoring the outside metal case? Does anyone know the value of this model?
------------------
Hi Wilnova,
I left the original paint on and just cleaned it. It has a wrinkle finish that's hard to duplicate. I used a dark brown camoflage(?) enamel primer paint and a clear semi-gloss enamel over that. It gives a nice dark chololat color almost like original look.
You also might want to change the caps in the tar box as they are almost always bad.
As for the value, if you like it, it priceless. I don't think a lot of people like the looks of them but mine has grown on me and I wouldn't want to sell it.
Take care
Bud

------------------
