I need help identifying the era, manufacturer and model of the below microphone (there is a tag on the top under the element that had "ODM" and either "1802" or "1302" punch stamped into it):

Thanks,

Is it an early condenser mic? Does it have a one or two tube amp in the bottom? As if it is an early condenser model, it would probably be worth plenty more than the typical carbon of the era. Although if not from a significant or desirable maker, maybe not a huge amount. The yoke looks like it was maybe made to mount on a cylindrical body, like alot of the early cond. mics were. And condenser "heads" were available for sale, for those that wanted to construct their own tube amplifier stage and enclosures. With no markings of any use, you might have to consult with one of the big time mic collectors for details. But I would be curious about the insides of the base.

Wazz:

Thanks! BTW, the Microphone element has "205" stamped into it. Here is a picture of the "insides":

Those insides just scream home built. In fact, the whole microphone, except for the actual mic element button, looks home built though very nicely done. Probably built be some ham around wartime.

Actually, that is what I had thought too. I was just looking for some additional input/information.

Terry

Hmm. That looks like a single stage condenser "head amp" and sure is homemade, but I wonder if the condenser element is working or salvageable. If you did not want to mess with tubes, a FET can perform the same function but you would still want maybe 48VDC or more as bias to the condenser element I would think.

The pictures seem to have disappeared. We have no idea what you are talking about.

For my part, it WOULD have been nice to see it. I'd seen some DIY articles in Radio Craft about home brewing such a thing.

That destroys the value of the post for anyone else who reads it. People refer to posts that are years or even decades old.

"Once bitten, twice shy," eh?

I don't agree with radioterry... I think a proper copyright notice would be sufficient... but I do get where he's coming from. In the meantime, I prefer to talk about radios. 8)

A few missing pics will not kill the internet, as photobucket has proven. There are plenty of ARF threads that never had any pictures at all. I come across them all the time when I search for stuff. I always wish they had pictures...

But if wishes were horses, beggars would ride, right?

He is either paranoid about someone "stealing" his precious pics or worried about taking up too much server space and returned it by deleting the pics. Either way its foolish in my opinion. I would have prefered the pics stay but its up to Terry to decide.
