Excellent, easy to read article.
It states that much of the radio tube's power is lost due to the heat.

Yes, the Wiki has been seriously made more useful
The Russian tube listings/designations are still incomplete though. EM-# are medical use tubes from what I understand, but the "this is how to read Russian Tubes" lists don't mention this line.
This IS a sale site, and the mods can surgically take this post out if this breaks the rules, but this site does have the note-pad graphics which link to the parameter sheets for some of the EM-# line. I cannot think of anywhere else this information is located online or I would link to there:

I think the words "Western Electric" are magical. When used together, they tend to cause the monetary decimal point to move to the right When invoked with the right MAGICAL WORDS OF POWER (such as chanting "Western Electric... 300B, Western Electric... 300B") then the decimal moves to the right 2 at a time XD

All the receiving-grade power triodes like this one, the 45, and the 2A3/6A3 are scandalously expensive nowadays, thanks mostly to the Cult of the Single-Ended Triode Amp.
A certain sub-phylum of audiophools founded that cult, for reasons of their own. In the process of pursuing the inner mysteries of the cult and climbing its ladder of ritual and initiation, they have done for these triodes what the Fenderholics have done for 6L6GC's.
A plague on both houses, say I!!

Ok Keeper, Larry and cwmoser, the topic is drifting here.
This is Hints & Kinks. If you want to bat around the whys and wherefores of tube prices and such, please take this to the Clubhouse section.
Thanks guys,

And here's an Exhaustive tube database with pictures and data
Click on the pictures and get results and then go deeper by clicking on those pictures.
If you want one specific tube click in the magnifying glass (which is a search function)
I find it very informative.

http://www.r-type.org/static/valves.htm also has a lot of good instructional pages and historical information http://r-type.org/static/museum.htm The site owner is a decent sort of fellow, and good to converse with in emails as well. I also like that he tracks tube design changes, and releases in different nations, and shows the differences between domestic and export and has done a lot of cross reference work and substitution work as well.
The only negative side I find to that site (and the sister sites) is that it is not printer friendly. I end up having to download the pages and edit them some to make them print ready. No that I am printing off a book, I simply have a very hard time reading online rather than on paper
