Ok, so we all use tooth brushes for cleaning all those nooks and crannies but the angle on a tooth brush is not always "just right" (after all, they are bent to reach your back teeth, right?)

My trick is to take the heat gun and gently heat the shank between the head (bristles) and then main portion of the handle and then gently give them a bend to about 30° to 45°. Once they cool they'll stay that way.

Makes it easier to brush flat surfaces too.

Enjoy!

You can also get "straight" toothbrushes made for denture wearers
that require no after-market bending.

I use them for my radio resto and also at work for cleaning/de-fluxing circuit boards after re-work repairs.

Indeed you can.

The bending I am talking about puts your arm in a more comfortable position it you're cleaning large, flat areas with intricate detail.

Also, the narrow "baby toothbrushes" come in handy; they are about a third the width of a regular toothbrush.

And why are they called "tooth" brushes, anyway" Shouldn't it be "teeth" brushes? -you brush more than one tooth at at time anyway, right? <bg>

And of course if you ever lose your bathroom toothbrush, you have a backup on your test bench...

I thought it's called a toothbrush because it was invented by one of those 'Swamp Men.'

Ok, guys. I think we've beaten the "toothbrush" jokes to death now.

The advantage of bending the head backwards 90° is that an unbent toothbrush is nearly worthless down in a confined space, such as if you were to use it to clean out the inside of the aluminum coffee basket of a percolator. The bent angle makes that job really easy in comparison. I've been bending the things for 40 years now.
