For those of you who have equipment that has black wrinkle finish paint and need to repaint it take a look at this http://www.eastwood.com/ew-wrinkle-pain ... 12-oz.html

I might buy some soon for my BC-455A receiver since it needs to be repainted.

Wrinkle paint can also be found at Automotive stores. I have used it and it works just fine. I believe it is even cheaper.

I did not know that. I'll have to look in the stores then.

I bought a can of VHT at O'Reilly Auto recently for $8.99.

Other companies probably have or can order.

VHT is what I used. I think I got it at AutoZone in Tucson. Down here in AZ we have the perfect oven for doing wrinkle paint. I just set the cabinet out in the direct sun for an hour or so along with the paint. Sprayed it on heavy one side at a time and watched it wrinkle and dry, than moved on to another side etc. No problems with it.

I think the popular approach is to get the wrinkle with common black, then overcoat it lightly with any other color you need if you can't find it in wrinkle.

Agreed, and it is probably better if the secondary (color) coat is applied sooner rather than later, but that would be a call due to humidity, temperature, and experience. Nice thing is you can always take it all off and start over again if you don't like the results.

I tried my first wrinkle painting with a can of Krylon(!) wrinkle paint I got at the auto parts. Actually was impressed, worked well for me on a flat panel. Did not wait enough days though, and my finger smudged it in a small spot due to the softness. Added some as a patch over the spot and it re wrinkled to invisibility. Last time I went in to get some all they had was that VHT or something different so I have no idea how it compares. Had several cans of GC gray wrinkle I got from elec. surplus but never used them for anything and I think they may be useless now. If you only could get that brown alligator hide wrinkle paint for AKs, sigh.

I think it's been mentioned, and maybe it's not close enough, but Kennedy machinists boxes are brown wrinkle. Even if not exact, it would make the overcoating with the right color easier than over black.
