How can I clean these socket pins? They seem to be silver, with most of them corroded.

Hi,

What type tube goes into the socket? Does not look like one of the more common styles.

When I clean a socket I usually take the tube that fits it and spray some deoxit on the pins and then insert and remove the tube a few times. Then wipe up any excess deoxit off the socket and pins.

Silver contacts can look bad but still make good contact!

Probably silver sulfide? I'd used Deoxit and a pipe cleaner to clean the socket.

Hi, I recently cleaned a set of socket pins and I used what Peter used.
I bought some pipe cleaners from a smoke shop in my area. The store had some soft ones and some coarse, i bought both, very cheap. I used them with alcohol and the gunk that came out on the cleaners was a lot.

GU-50. I'll have to try to find some Deoxit.

DeOxit, as others have suggested.

One comment... DeOxit is not a general-purpose contact cleaner.
It's designed very specifically to clean oxidation from silver contacts.
For routine contact cleaning, as from grease or dirt, it's not very effective.
