I followed the approach by H. Kristian Walter, except I made an enclosure with beveled edges, like the original, so that the replica will fit properly in some of my portable tube radio sets. The cost at BigLots, for seven "heavy duty" 9V batteries for this replica, is about $4.

I just acquired a cute Garod portable that uses this battery. Where did you find a shell and the connector? An old battery?
