One in a while I need a voltmeter with an input resistance higher than 10 megs. I made up a multiplier probe for my DVM by putting 90 megs worth of resistors in a probe body with a pin jack on the end away from the tip. Plugging the regular probe into this extension gives a total meter resistance of 100 megs. All readings are then multiplied by 10.
You don't need precision resistors, just a set that makes your meter read 0.1 of the normal reading. I selected mine from 5% films.
This is NOT intended as a high voltage probe. Don't go trying to measure the voltage on your picture tube with this.
