G-C and other have been selling soldering aids since the dawn of radio. Made for purpose, not a Dr.s cast off...
Google [soldering aids]
True. However GC tools are not terribly robust and rather overpriced. Most of their stuff was made in Japan and just plain junk.
My dentist gave me several dental tools made from stainless steel, knurled handle and perfectly balanced for probing, scraping, cleaning out nooks and crannies. The picks are medical grade quality and tough as nails. Can't get much better than that. Besides, the price is right.
In addition, solder doesn't stick to stainless steel. What's not to like???
