I have found that if I glue the parts on a wood cabinet that need to be glued, I do it before I strip the cabinet. If any glue gets on some of the finish it won't soak into the wood grain.
It will sit on the old lacquer, which will be stripped off later

In the past I have stripped first and then glued, but unless you are very careful the glue will get on the wood where you don't want it.

+2 here. It is always best, whether working on an antique radio or any other antique furniture, to perform all wood repairs prior to stripping the finish.

Several reasons for this: First and most importantly, as previously mentioned, to prevent glue from getting onto a newly-stripped surface. But also, many times during wood cabinet repairs some sanding will be required. Best to perform any needed sanding prior to stripping; although sanding will expose bare wood the stripping process will "smear" some of the original finish back onto the sanded bare surfaces, making it much easier to later obtain a uniform color.
