For those who work on old CB's and other communication gear that used the coils in the Toko style cans with very small slugs, sometimes they can become broken, especially if someone has used a small screwdriver on them.

The slug usually has the same slot on the other end . Drill a small hole in the PCB under the can( avoiding trace damage), just enough to get the tuning tool in there, and screw the slug back out of the top. You can flip the slug over and use it again, but if it breaks, you wont get another chance. You will have to crunch it up and get another slug.
