Zenith 12S-267. And it went cheap, $23, local pick up. I didn't bid, I just cleared out unfinished projects.

I'll post up some better pics of it when I grab it this week. :P

I was NOT expecting it to go that cheap. The goodwill auction sites for Denver/Springs are dangerous for vintage audio stuff.

That's a great score! Looks like the cabinet will refinish very nicely. One of my favorites, for sure. Congratulations. And if you feel like doubling your money you know where to find me :)

I ordered about 50 bucks plus shipping worth of "grill cloth" on ebay a few years ago. it was from a person who provided radio restoration products which was mostly "grill cloth".

it certainly was not speaker fabric, by far. it was about as thick as the bed cover on my truck only with a design. one could not see an atomic detonation thru it.

when I inquired and stated that this "speaker fabric" actually blocked the sound and the fact that it was upholstery, the seller said, "did you stretch it out over the baffle ?" and then argued with me in a few more emails with their lying selves.

yea, that's what I was dealing with...

I returned it all and the seller even paid shipping back b/c I pitched such a fit.

they knew exactly what they were doing, selling upholstery and lying about it.

I called them on it and they weren't too happy.

the big question is, I wonder how many people replaced their grill cloth with this seller's junk and now have more sound coming out of the back of the radio than the front ?

steve

No way you can buy every bargain orphan that's comes along, not enough time in life, nor storage space.
