or does it seem like there are more sellers these days who really dont have a clue as to what the radios they are selling are really worth or they are just hoping for a fool and his money to show up? this is just one example but I see it with old 5 tube plastic sets and a number of others that I see on e bay - I was looking at a westclox alarm clock like my grand mother used to have - thought it would be neat to buy - not anything special the guy wanted $50 for it. no thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZENITH-TRANSOCE ... 231b56c025

It's no different than with console phonos. Craigslist and ebay are full of them that are insanely overpriced because people think just because it's old, they are sitting on a gold mine.

Yes especially the solid state ones, seller thinks they are made of gold, tell them otherwise you get abused. happened to me a few times when ive made a realistic offer.

I have been watching a seller with a low value Scott console that is driving distance from me-Its a late 40's or early 50's one and IMO worth at MOST $350-400. This seller started their auction with a BIN of $10K.
After a few weeks passed, they dropped their BIN to only $5K. I offered them $350 and they kindly counter offered it for only $2500. I tried to educate them on it's real worth but some people just don't want to listen or do research on what they have.

Bruce Webster wrote: I hear what youre saying Bruce- the one I posted the listing for was ust an example - - I see listings of not only vintage radios but clocks and baking items, all sorts of just plain junk from the past 50-60 years with folks trying to sell it for imo astronomically high prices- I dont mind folks trying to make a buck but it seems to this layman, that lately, sellers have lost all sense of reality as to what vintage items are really worth. by the way - only 19 minutes left as of now for this mediocre example of a TO G 500 for the coool price of only $ 499 !
