Hello:
Is it against any rule, or considered "wrong", to offer a seller less than the "Buy Now" price?

Thank-you.

A good tactic is to let the BIN season for awhile. Then, when he hasn't gotten any action, a message to him offering $ will look more appealing.

I have made below fixed price offers to sellers, and buyers have made me lower offer prices.
No problem at all.
In addition, the seller can easily "revise" his/her items price in a New York minute.

It makes me me laugh that anyone who does not intend to buy outside the auction and asks if the seller will take another" buy it now" offer seems offended that you dare somehow "cheat" others who may want to bid. If they want the item so much then "buy it now' I have over 900 buys without a negative and I can't help but wonder why people feel so defensive about asking the seller a question... ah yeah, maybe I can after reading some of the stupidity I have received in seller E mail. " I won't accept your offer because it's not fair to other buyers. Gee did you ever hear a car salesman say he won't give you a lower price because someone else may want the car. Who sets these rules anyway? Ask Ebay and so long as your not trying to cheat ebay or steal an item "the bay" would say " go for it".

It all depends on how the question is asked. I had an item for sale "BIN" and a guy politely asked if he could pay less, so I changed to "make offer", which he did and sold it.

Then again I have had some that were sort of rude and those got blocked.

Of course, YMMV.

I have noticed a pattern that some sellers use.

First week they have a "pie in the sky" BIN, next week maybe more realistic, if it still hasn't sold they go to the bargain basement price.

So, unless you know how long the seller has been trying to sell the item you might catch him at the right time.
