"To all you people trying to sell CRT /tube tv's. THEY ARE NEARLY WORTHLESS. Even the biggest nicest Sony tube tv is Only worth about $50 if that. Think about it. Would you pay someone to let you lift and haul Their 75-150lb tv around? So stop asking $100-250 for a 100lb burden.

He's right, of course. Places like Goodwill or Salvation Army generally won't take old CRT sets. Virtually no one wants them. The big ones are 200+ pound boat anchors, and you can buy the equivalent-sized flat panel model with decent quality for around $250 -- and carry it around with one hand.

Many garbage pickups won't take them and recycle depots will usually charge you to dispose of them. I've seen a dollar an inch being charged to dispose of CRT televisions.
Best Buy was charging $10 for 27" and smaller, and you get a $10 in store credit.
So far a local recycler will take CRT computer monitors for free. I have a bunch yet to get rid of.
