The radio on bottom is an Airline console. What is the radio on top?
These are going to be at a local auction and I just want to get a little more info about the older radio before I go to the auciton.

Thanks for any help in advance.
Kris

The radio on the top looks just like my Howard Neutrodyne....a battery set ca. 1924-1925.

A nice, big set that should be fairly easy to restore.

Identical to my Howard except the bottom 2 left knobs are wrong. They should be identical to the others and have the number scale.

The Airline sold for $50 but I did not want it unless it was $5 or less because I just don't need anymore console radios. The Howard sold for $105 to me. I know it was probably more than I should have paid but I really like it. The veneer is pretty bad and there is some yellow powdery stuff all over inside the radio. I will get some pictures of it tonight and upload them.

I was standing by the radio when it came close to time to auction it and the guy that bid me up asked if I was interested in the radio and I said yes I hope to buy it. Then he said looks like your not the only one interested and then he said he was probably going to pay around $200 for it. I was so upset at this time that I figured I would make him pay atleast $150 for it. When the bidding got to $105 he dropped it on me. I don't think I will ever get a chance to buy one of these again so I am happy I won it. I know better than to stand by anything I am really interested in the future though.

Coulda been the auctioneers brother. Or the sellers brother for that matter.
I learned from experience that unless it's a fellow collector that I know, I don't
say s*** to anybody about something I'm interested in.

I guess we should call that a "soft" Shill.

Here are the pictures.

Is the yellow stuff battery acid? My brother came up with a good idea to vacuum it out so I will try that tomorrow.

There are remnants or old mouse nests. I don't see any chewed on wires and most of this stuff looks wired through bars. Is there any wiring that could have been chewed on in this radio?

Thanks for the help.
Kris
