Since I can't go and directly leave negative feedback without dealing with the seller,
I give neutral feedback and a description:
Inadequate packing resulted in damage to celluloid dial, needs packing 101.

I think I can repair the damage to the dial with minimum visible scars, but in examining it, it really looks like they tried lifting the chassis front by the dial and their finger went through
the fragile dial, the auction pictures show no dial damage, and the dial on the chassis in the cabinet doesnt move around in a way to place any stress on the dial, plus the chassis was securely mounted with 4 screws to the cabinet. So, either way, the lousy packing job, no cushioning just some styrofoam sections, or their damaging the dial somehow before packing it and not telling me, gets neutral / negative feedback.

Is this some new rule?

As far as I know and having tried to give negative feedback within recent times, eBay wants you to try and resolve any issues with the sellers first before giving negative feedback. In my case there is no way to resolve the damage done other than to return the item and get a full refund minus the shipping. I will keep the radio and repair the damage myself, but I will leave neutral / negative comment feedback which I feel is justified as they have a high positive feedback rating and should have known to pack the item better than they did. Most sellers do a pretty good job of packing, some are exceptional, but a few don't and try to get away cheap on the packing materials like this one did.

I know its s+++y when this happens, ( and it has happened to me), why not use the system and get your money back?
Seller is left with net zero.
On today's ebay, that stings more than any rating you leave.

Just a thought...no knock.

Be aware that Ebay can remove your feedback if you do that.

"We don't allow Feedback comments that contain:

Negative statements left for a buyer that conflict with the positive rating".

You can leave negative feedback against a Seller if it's factual, and non-emotional. I have done it once in awhile. The community should be aware of issue

Ebay gives Sellers no option to leave negative feedback. You can select "Positive", but as the previous poster said, you can't leave negative feedback in the box. Sellers, I'm finding have little protection.

You obviously have to be creative if, as a seller, you want to slap a buyer in their F/B.

Using sarcasm might be a useful method.

No body ever reads the green ones beyond the first page and especially when they are buried deep
