ebay is too much work, take pictures, describe things, post auctions, answer questions, find boxes, pack properly, worry about damage, deal with nit picking buyers, and scammers.

repeat.

It can be a lot of work.
The auctions are a gamble. I don't want to have a radio I worked on for days get "stolen" for cheap. And I don't want to engage in shill bidding... so it's big risk. And if I choose to go "Buy it now" then Ebay has higher charges..
Then listing and final fees and Paypal fees... a lot of fees.

But I do agree with the new Ebay policy on no bad feed back for buyers.
Philosophically... there are no "bad buyers" .
People come to you to buy... treat them fairly.
Yes sometimes you find kooks. But still Ebay believes all buyer are good buyers. Gotta agree.

i haven't sold on ebay in 4 years, I also have not bought from an auction in almost that same amount of time. I purchase almost exclusively from buy it now. I got tired of the stress of trying to win an auction just to have it sniped at the last second. Yes I snipe as well. now I only bid on things I really want badly and there is no BIN.

+1 on disabling feedback against buyers.
I have bought several things on eBay, paid instant, then later have problems with the seller, not shipped, wrong item, etc
At this point they still never left me feedback for paying instantly, which is the best a seller can hope for. So, I leave them negative feedback that they well deserve and they slam me with a negative in reprisal. That is so wrong, I paid instantly.
These sellers hold you hostage for feedback if you want a positive feedback too. Then retaliate against you, they should be banned instantly for that behavior.
We just had that one guy with the whole thread on his store, his attitude was just this. Imagine leaving him a negative and get berated for his mistake.

I still buy a lot from eBay, but mostly components from China, excellent service and no attitude as we get with USA sellers.
I'd love to buy from USA sellers, so adjust your price and be competitive, you're getting your stock from China too.

I sold a radio for $50 and I was ok with it

Before the auction closed a bidder in Mexico asked about shipping

Told him $250 to $350 due to box size.

He bid anyway

When auction closed I found I could UPS for $200

Now he is bitchin’ about shipping

Mexico just went on my blocked list.

14% (Ebay after it's said & done = 11% +/-) PayPal (3% +/-) Seller is always wrong, buyer is always right. The only people making money are Ebay & Paypal.

I ran out of things to sell, packed items for 17 years and packing/shipping was a PITA, much easier to sell at the weekly auction and no picky, picky buyers to contend with.
