I don't know what's worse-the lack of knowledge, or the ridiculous price! Maybe I'll call her and explain what it is-I hope she would appreciate the help.

You will find it is a waste of time, the misinformed seller wants to believe the lie that they were told about the value and will think you are trying to rip them off....WA7OPY

That's just what I would expect. Even though I wouldn't want it (I can't even give away wire recorders), they would think I just want to lower the price. Good luck to them-they'll need it.

It's in the Allied 1950 catalog.

you could just add the question mark after the word "clue" and stop there.

Call, and ask her how many stations the "radio" picks up...

Or, you can show the seller an old Apple II ad, showing the computer with a portable TV, as a monitor, and tell them its just missing the keyboard.

Maybe some people are just happy being clueless. It's a less complicated lifestyle where details and accuracy are merely annoyances to ignore.

I, for one, am so very glad people have no clue. My feeling is..if you have the intelligence to photograph and load a photo onto an internet sale site...you also have the means to spend 2 minutes googling it to see what it is, and how much it has sold for in the past on sites like ebay... if you do not do that..shame on you. Its called due diligence.. Don't do it, have no clue..I will gladly it off your hands.
That's not to say I take advantage of folks... just the ones who think they know.
A couple years ago I bought a 1939 TRK-120 prewar TV from a guy who sternly and arrogantly said "look pal..I've been selling this stuff for 35 years..I know what it is , and I know what it is worth". Ok buddy. I am not gonna argue with you... I handed him the $150 he wanted for it, loaded it up, and drove it home.
If you have no clue.. good for you... and me.... lol

Good for you! It's probably a good thing that you bought it off of a clueless but arrogant old guy because if you bought it off of a clueless but arrogant old lady then you'd probably get chastised by the self righteous (jealous) crowd claiming that you took advantage of a sweet little old lady who didn't know any better.

I blame a lot on ebay and CL, as the seller has nothing to lose as the ad is free and they might find someone else that is clueless and bag a windfall....WA7OPY
