Hi Folks, first time posting on this sub forum but from what I read I had better read it daily. Was reading some of the posts about ebay and did not realize what mischief was a foot. I am trying to learn about fixing AA5 radios and from time to time I buy radios that do not work just to have something to study and learn from. Can one or more of you more experienced ebayers let me know what I should be looking for when I see an offer for a radio so that I do not get taken. I realize that you could not cover all the different ways. I really do not know how to cover myself against radios that are just pictures and no real radio behind the ad. Thanks to all who post.
Regards,
Don

Always browse through the seller's feedback.
It will not take you long to easily see how reliable the seller may be.
Click on the "Feedback as a seller" tab.

Buy off Craigslist where you actually see the radios when you pay for them. Run ads there looking for cheap hobby radios.

Actually the gamble is really diminished for buyers now, given eBay's and PayPal's buyer protection.

As noted above, always check a sellers F/B, regardless of what it is you are buying, to get an idea of how reputable they are.

I've bought hundreds of radios from eBay sellers over the years, and with but two exceptions, never had a problem. When I had the local police in each case pay the two exceptions a visit, I was made whole each time.

Just post a link, on ARF, of an auction in which you have questions about the radio. Trust me, you'll get plenty of very accurate assessments and opinions concerning that radio.
