I have a Magnavox CR-198C console and the matching FM tuner.

Recently got some 8 volt warm white fuse lamps for a receiver and needed another pack of 5 just for one.

I have four left and am thinking of seeing if they will light up the dial properly.

Will require soldering wires to them and using tape or glue to secure them in place while isolating them from the chassis.

If they do work what can I use to make the light more of a blue green color like what the dial was when I put blue bulb covers over the #47 bulbs.

That's what I used with the #47 lamps, but wasn't bright enough because the filament wasn't close enough to the end of the bulb.

Had figured the LEDs would be brighter.

Perhaps some of that stained glass paint would work?

The LEDs came in today so I may try one tonight to see how it makes the tuner dial look

Here's a couple pictures.

I do have a green filter that has a graticule on it from an old defunct oscope. Perhaps with the LED that will give the color I am desiring which is a bluish green?

I will install another one on the other side so the brightness is equal.

I can add resistance in series with the LED lamps to reduce brightness if so desired.

Also I can desolder the end caps from the PC board of the LEDs and just use double sided tape to stick them to the dial glass or the tuner chassis or both. Will do the same to the CR-198C dial if I can get it right with the tuner dial. Will then adjust brightness of the LEDs so that both dials are of equal brightness and are not too bright.

Also have a Browning RV-31 FM tuner I will be doing the same to if it works out well with the Magnavox dials.
