A few months ago I started a project.I had the intension to make a radio like they made in the 1920 's.All the brass components are home brew. The black plates are made of original ebonite It is a tree valve radio with hi frequentie valve,a detector and one low frequentie valve. The green coil is a hf filtering coil./The set is already playing but now I am bussy to make a deasent cabinet in cherrywood like the original..The cabinet you see now is made of wine boxes. This was a tryout.A perfect copy of a Ducretet.I dind not make a copy of an existing radio but had myy own inspiration working and made mu own model model. When everything is finische I wil post some pictures.

This is amazing work with 1920's inspiration. You were clearly born in the wrong era! Thanks for sharing these pictures of your work.

Ps: I wonder if over in the states wireless like Ducretet,Vitus ao continental set from the 20's are wanted/or in your collection. Here a pic from my VITUS mondial I.Completely 100% original and playing.Unbeleveble a set from 1924 and still playing.

Freddy,

That is a beautiful job. I am attempting to do some similar work but will probably never reach your level.

I like you approach of using secondary wood for the first attempt. I have been searching for what wood species was used in the 1920, '30s for cabinets. No one I have talked to seems to really know. You used cherry for your project. Cherry is easy to get here and I think that is what I will use.

Again, good job,
Lyn

What did you use for the front and top panel?
