Having a need for another probe for my signal tracer, I built this one at work today. Forgive the shameless plug for my employer. I used a pen body, made the tip from plated buss wire. Which I coated with solder in a solder pot. Used a .01 uf 1000 volt axial cap, some thin coax , very thin probe wire, and a BNC connector. Checked it out this evening, while working on a Old Drake 2B. Works will enough for me. All the parts were left overs from projects I have been working on in the Lab. I also check the insulation value of the pen body use a AC/DC Hi-Potter. It was good to 5KV, with no signs of break down. I enjoy making things like this. Now working on a Bread Board project. Hope to have if finished in a few weeks. I will post about it when done.
