Understand A300 and A500 are just Amplifiers. Mine is Am/FM receiver/amplifier. Thanks for your help. Will try to post pics. (Don't know how to)

I've seen a similar one, maybe the same, labeled "E J Korvette" (NY/NJ department store in the '60s). Neither brand is listed in Sams index at all, and the only "SR-1000" listed is Marantz, no relation to this one. So maybe your best be is to use a similar model like the TA-230 or TA-224 - I have the schematic for the 230 - email tbavis(at)rochester(dot)rr(dot)com

Hi: thanks for the info. TA-230 uses 6bq5 as amplifier tubes. Mine uses 3 12AX7 for preamp. and four (4) 7408 (6V6) for amp. I understand circuits are quite different. Thanks anyway for your help (I also have 230's schem.)

The A-230 amplifier uses 6BQ5, but the TA-230 receiver schematic I have uses 7408s.

Thanks to all that tried to help. Amplifier already working (no model nor schematic found...just testing parts solved the problem).

A past eBay sale said that the SR1000 may also be known as the Harman Kardon PLR-3, but I find no info on that either.

Ensure all electrolytic capacitors have been replaced along with all paper capacitors then check for and replace all out of tolerance resistors. I see yours has an external MPX decoder attached.

The output tubes (7408) is equivalent to 6V6, which is much easier to find should you need replacements.

Churchill was a console manufacturer, and utilized Harman Kardon in the early 60's as a supplier.

In addition to your unit- there are also Churchill versions of the A300 and the A500. The receiver appears to be the only Churchill unit, that was not an off the shelf item from Harman Kardon.

All of the Harman Kardon 7408 units are almost virtually identical circuit wise, so you can use one of those schematics until the one day an original Churchill manual appears.

I am new to this forum, but I recognized the Churchill amp IMMEDIATELY from the pictures. My parents bought a big walnut console with this exact receiver. Churchill had a store on Route 110 in Suffolk County, just off Northern State Parkway (on the way to what would be Walt Whitman Mall). I remember my parents shopping for this unit; I would guess about 1962 or so. I have the exact amp (working) with a slightly different faceplate and YES, I do have SCHEMATICS. I'll scan them in later if you like. I also don't know what the model is, but the back says"PLR-3", as in your photo. I am just starting to think about a rebuild.

That makes sense because Harman Kardon
was in Westbury back then.

Welcome aboard, VV, and looking forward to hearing about your rebuild.
