I'm sure it has some value to collectors or fans, it would be nice if you posted a picture/schematic or both here. That way we would have a better chance of commenting.

Here's a web picture of the 382B. If it were mine, I wouldn't scrap it.

Don't scrap it. When you try it if you don't like how it sounds sell it whether it be in the classifieds on the forums here or your preferred place to sell things. Someone will surely buy it if you don't like it.

Thanks for the replies.I will post a picture. I stopped using it about 8 years ago, just put it in a bag and put it away.a quick check showed it was still receiving am and fm using earphones, however all the pots crackling and the stereo slide switch making intrrmitent contact. More to follow later

If you decide to scrap it, consider parting it out- some of the pieces might have greater value than the sum. The wooden case, knobs, three way slide switches and volume control with loudness taps would all be items sought after by people restoring other stuff. The wooden case in particular might fit a lot of common Scott tube amps and tuners.

For heaven's sake don't scrap it!! If you must move it, an ad on the classifieds here should find it a good home pronto.

 Larry

Please treat it with some dignity. I spent many hours in front of one of those. Brings back memories. Somebody will appreciate it as a whole.

I had a Scott 344B, basically the same unit but it had FM only with no AM. Even though one of the speaker outputs didn't work, I used it for the sensitive FM tuner it had in it, which was hooked up to my other receivers' amp section. The Scott could pick up stations that my much newer Technics and Kenwood receivers could not! There were a lot of discreet components used in the Scott, and many of them were starting to use FET's in the FM tuning section.

I bet the AM tuner in your 382b would beat the pants off anything made recently (within the past 25+ years), too.
