Hello All,
I have just recently read that the Gruen Watch Company had a Time Signal Jingle that was broadcast on the radio and heard by 30,000,000 people daily in 1945. One would think that something that well known would be easy to find but thus far I have had no luck. Does anyone happen to know where I might hear what this jingle sounded like?

Keeth, I checked in a book I have called Radio Program Openings and Closings 1931-72.
I thought there might be some thing under the section titled Slogans and Jingles but came up nothing. Best of luck in your hunt for info and be sure to let us know if you find any thing out!!!

Lynn

Are you sure this doesn't refer to the Bulova time signal ads? I don't remember ever hearing a Gruen spot ad although I think they did sponsor some programs. Bulova bought spot ads on network stations that preceded the net time signal. Ads were on the order of "At the tone its 10 PM, B-u-l-o-v-a, Bulova watch time." One can hear it on occasional air checks.

I have heard that particular ad. It is almost a clone of the Bulova ad. If I can find it again I'll post here. Only God knows where it is. I am thinking it may be on one of the "Friends of Old Time Radio" tapes - the ones with the jingles including the BIG, NEW, ROOMY, 1936 Dodge!.. I found the Tastyeast Candy jingle on there. I'll look.

I believe the title you are looking for is Themes. Like. Old Times. 90 old time shows. I have the album tape and CD version it's an awesome all around good collection although it's only had the show intros sports the best and best of all time advertising. don't ever recall is having any watch advertisement though. I think if you go to the Internet Archive site I believe they have an open source for free download

I'll try to find the tape as soon as I recover from whatever I have and this bout of depression from the election results.
