Forum rules
The following requirements must be followed when advertising personal antique radio / TV / audio / phono items (such as discussed in the forums here) for sale in the classifieds forum::
- Titles must START with : FS (for sale) or WTB (want to buy) or Trade or Free at the beginning of the title..
- FS posts must have an "asking" price and offers may be sent by PM. Are you parting something out? ... price each major part (not things like screws and nuts)
- There must be a location somewhere in the ad or the members profile (City & State or Zip Code are the minimum requirement).
- Ads are limited to two per day, and may not be bumped sooner than 7 days after the last post to the thread.
- No outside sales links are allowed other than to pictures of actual items being sold. No links allowed to eBay, Craigslist etc.
- This is NOT a discussion forum. If you're not buying or supplying or suggesting a relevant solution, don't post - send a Private Message. Comments on pricing will be deleted.
- First to post to an item for sale stating "I WILL TAKE IT" it is first in line. Subsequent claims will be followed in the order they are posted. Claims to "Take it" can be conditional on unknowns such as shipping costs.
- Any "PM sent" posts without posting a reason for the PM will be deleted as they are meaningless to anyone else reading the thread.
- Once a deal is made, edit the title to say so and the thread will be locked
If your thread or post disappears - read the rules again - no warnings or explanations will be given when threads or posts are deleted.

Hello Folks
Well, I'm back to restoration of my Zenith Porthole after almost a year. Had major back surgery for 6 collapsed disks and things didn't go well. Could have died from serious complications and I'm just now walking a bit.
Matthew's rebuilt flyback transformer for the 24H20 seems to have been a very successful rewiring and rewaxing job. And Vaughn, Old Time TV, successfully shipped a good picture tube clear across the country from one coast to the other. My deepest appreciation to these two folks. Good work and great people!
However, the fellow assisting with restoration of the chassis, Jim Meyer, says the width coil is bad. It's a Zenith part # S-17175 with a cross reference to a Merit MWC-5.
So far I haven't been able to locate either of these coils. Jim says his resources can't find one either. Could even purchase another 24H20 chassis if I have too.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Rick

Hello Tim and tvdude211
I'll check w/ Playthings of the Past for the Merit.
Also, this is a 16" picture tube.
Thanks
Rick

Okay Tim and tvdude211,
Found the Merit Coil MWC-5 on the Playthings of the Past listing. There are actually two of them. Apparently slightly different. But for the cost, I'll take both if they have them in stock. Gary, Play Things of the Past, won't be accepting email inquiry until Tuesday, April 10th. So I'll contact him then. Thanks for the prompt info Tim.
Still may be interested in a second 24H20 chassis if anyone knows of one that may be available. Or other replacement coils to have as backup.
Thanks again,
Rick

Hello again,
Tim appears to have hit the nail on the head with finding the MWC-5 width coil at Play Things of the Past. I also found 7 different types of vacuum tubes at PTOP. They had all of the tubes in new condition. So this one recommendation solved several problems. Will keep you up to date on how the Zenith Porthole restoration progresses. This set is a console w/ radio and phonograph. All will be in good working order when finished.
Many thanks,
Rick
