Forum rules

The following requirements must be followed when advertising personal antique radio / TV / audio / phono items (such as discussed in the forums here) for sale in the classifieds forum::

  • Titles must START with : FS (for sale) or WTB (want to buy) or Trade or Free at the beginning of the title..
  • FS posts must have an "asking" price and offers may be sent by PM. Are you parting something out? ... price each major part (not things like screws and nuts)
  • There must be a location somewhere in the ad or the members profile (City & State or Zip Code are the minimum requirement).
  • Ads are limited to two per day, and may not be bumped sooner than 7 days after the last post to the thread.
  • No outside sales links are allowed other than to pictures of actual items being sold. No links allowed to eBay, Craigslist etc.
  • This is NOT a discussion forum. If you're not buying or supplying or suggesting a relevant solution, don't post - send a Private Message. Comments on pricing will be deleted.
  • First to post to an item for sale stating "I WILL TAKE IT" it is first in line. Subsequent claims will be followed in the order they are posted. Claims to "Take it" can be conditional on unknowns such as shipping costs.
  • Any "PM sent" posts without posting a reason for the PM will be deleted as they are meaningless to anyone else reading the thread.
  • Once a deal is made, edit the title to say so and the thread will be locked

If your thread or post disappears - read the rules again - no warnings or explanations will be given when threads or posts are deleted.

If you have the octagonal Howard knobs, and OP isn't interested, I would be.

I have a 99 , very similar console radio and its missing a few knobs

Beautiful job and that restoration!

its a shame that your beautiful radio does not have a full set of knobs.
I have two that are a really close match to the one you have...OR....I have a full set of three that are slightly different (some "crosshatching" on the back of the knob behind the raised oval center) but all matching that would look good as well.
I will shoot you some pics of what I have tomorrow when I get home.

I think I can accomidate you on those knobs.

It looks like those are "D" shafts instead of full round ones...is that correct?
I think the ones I have fit full rounds with a set screw but they will work on "D" shafts as well.
I will know more when I get home and get them out of the knob bin from hell.....

They are D shaft - with a grub screw.

Thanks. It was one of those radios that I asked the fellow to hold for me, so I was not going to back out of the purchase. It was falling apart. On the other hand, it had belonged to the seller's family for generations. I like to save those. Somehow it seems more worthy than an E-pay radio. He said it looked great before it went into storage.

You know, Tubeshack brings up a good point. What you can't see in the picture is the tone control on the back of the chassis. It has the wood hex shapped knob as seen on other Howard radios. Still with this radio's history, I doubt that the owner went out and found a single 1930's wood knob (of the wrong type) for the front.

Here ya go,
they are dirty and need refinishing but...they are a close match to what you have.
they are for a full round shaft but with the grub screws they will tighten down on the D shaft OK.
The one has a little chip on the back of the knob but you don't see it when its attached to the radio. With a little work and some filler and a refinish you will probably never even know it was there.
They are the same size as the one you already have..... 1-1/16"
all and all....they are better than having {gasp!} a naked shaft.....

here are the pics:
