Hello-

I am going through some gear for a friend, and his 7C Pre-amp (among other ills) has a broken Tape play / monitor switch. This is part #SL7P on the schematic. I'd love to find one!

Long shot I know, but does anyone have a parts unit / pile 'o junk / or know if this unit was also used on other models? It is unique to this function on the pre-amop, I believe a DPDT paddle switch. I'll try and post a pix in the AM.

Any help would be appreciated. Cash or tubes or gear or ? to trade......

Your best bet to find one is from VAC, Valve Amplification Co., who had the Marantz Replica project of about 10 years ago. For several years, I was the chief Tech on that project. They may still have some of the switches. Be prepared to pay a handsome sum. A cosmetically good working example of that original preamp is worth 4 to 6 thousand dollars.

I forgot to mention that the VAC part number for the tape monitor switch is 4036

Sadly they are out of stock / will not have that part.......

Anyone with a junker 7C collecting dust? (Ha Ha....)

For the tape monitor, you should be able to make this one work. The tape monitor switch is the only one of the four switches that has a straight-forward configuration. Just use only 2 of the 4 poles.
