Hello to all,

I have taken on a project for a dear friend that takes care of me at ACE hardware - to try and get this old Philco up and playing again - it was her Grandfather's

I need the speaker, the complete unit with an audio output transformer

There are TWO different versions of speaker for this model (chassis) but they treat them differently depending on the cabinet choice

The one I need is broken down as follows:

List number #29, PART# 36-3014 cone and voice coil assembly - S19 speaker

List #32, PART #36-3987 referred to as the "S19" speaker field coil assembly, THEN

there is list# 28, PART#32-7019 OUTPUT transformer for S19

Here is the set's schematic:

https://www.tubesandmore.com/schematics ... -15-121124

Bottom line, I need the correct field coil/speaker assembly/output transformer for this radio but I can be plenty happy with close enough if it's a matter of just adding some resistance

Philco 38-15 Code 124 Run 33

Measurements hole to hole DIAGONAL = 8" - Measured just hole to hole just straight across = 5 and 3/4"

Been told that any of these could be made to work without reinventing the wheel

60, 37-60, 37-61, 37-62, 37-610B, 37-610T, 37-620B, 37-2620B, 38-62, 38-9T, 38-10T, 38-60, 38-62

Would really be wonderful if someone has something that would work

Any help would be well received

Thank you all

Craig

I don’t know what your budget is, would you be interested in a complete radio, some caps replaced, otherwise original? 75.00 plus shipping.

Thank you for the offer but for now I'm going to hold out and hope a speaker turns up

As I wrote in my long winded ramble this is a project to try and help a friend get an old family set up and running again

Thanks though

Craig

Here are a couple of pictures. Shipping from Arizona to me in N central FL was 71.00, I am guessing shipping to you would be more, I think finding a speaker makes more sense for you. I see many candidates on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-PHILCO-38-7-CHAIRSIDE-RADIO-part-Working-7-1-2-FIELD-COIL-SPEAKER/232713081474?hash=item362ec7d282:g:L0YAAOSwW3VauvYU

Here is what the speaker looks like; mounting hold spacing is 5.5 inches.

That’s the one I tried to link to. I would ask what are the measurements. Also ohms of both coils.

Meant the distance between mounting holes. OP needs 5 3/4 inch. Looks like it will fit but a bit pricey.

Come on Phil
It's the wrong size, the wrong field coil and that cannibal wants more for his/her parts than the radio(s) are worth 99% of the time
You're losing your touch! ; - )

For that money for a speaker I'd have to "adapt" to the set, I'd bite the bullet and buy a transformer and convert to a PM speaker (but that ain't gonna happen either)

Hope you're feeling "OK" and all is well with your family

Thank you VERY much for posting the photos
They are of a great help
And you are correct - I have examined that seller's wares and I doubt I would ever conduct a transaction with him or her or whatever they may be
Same sort of sellers in the record (Lp) trade (my passion) - everything they have is priced as if it were still sealed first pressing gold
Not paying $65 for a used part sight unseen to attempt a repair on a $50 dollar set at best
But that's not even the best part of it - "they" want $40 bucks to ship it - ECONOMY
Don't think I'll be buying anything from them anytime soon
Best regards,
Craig

Thank you for your patience

Still hoping - even for just close enough

Been told by Mr. Ramirez over at Philco Phorum that any of these could be made to work without reinventing the wheel

"You can use an S-7 as a replacement. You can find an S-7 in any of the following Philco sets:

60, 37-60, 37-61, 37-62, 37-610B, 37-610T, 37-620B, 37-2620B, 38-62, 38-9T, 38-10T, 38-60, 38-62"

Any help, WELL received

Thank you to all
Craig

Thank you Terry
I just ran the shipping calculator and it's a super gouge
That and a repaired cone on top of the shipping rip is enough for me to be a deal breaker............
....................bad as I want to find her a speaker
I've seen this seller's ads and am trying to avoid if at all possible
Thank you very much for helping me
