Hi all,

I need a shielded cable lead extractor. Not sure of the size I need, but it would be something that I could use with RG174 shielded cable. Not super thick, not super thin. I found them online at one place, but they want $35 plus shipping each! Crazy. If anyone has one they want to sell/barter for, let me know. Thank you.

Ted

Similar ones are sold as “Little Joe” brand. Often cheaper

Not the same tool at all, different function. Tool on eBay is for extracting from housings.

The tool Ted is looking for "extracts" the center conductor from a coax cable and leaves a braided tail with the center conductor clear.

What is not shown in the image is a 45 deg, angle cut to the end of the outer tube, polished smooth to "work into" the shield from the end of the coax. The center pin then pushed the center conductor through the hole.

Here-in a picture is worth a 1000 words...

Ted has borrowed my extractor,, actually there are several sizes for different coax center conductors.

GL Ted,

Chas

Chas,

I know that is what the description says on the Ebay posting, but the description is wrong. It has nothing to do with pins as the post says. Maybe the tool is different than what you reference, but the Little Joe tool in the picture is what I use to pull wire lead through a shield. It is like a hypodermic needle as well. Maybe this link for 4 of them will show it better.
