Greetings Folks!
I need to buy some wire for my repair bench. Ideally, 50 Ft of different colors of 20AWG with plastic (not nylon) coating and some 18 AWG with cloth coating.
Where's a great place to buy wire at a very low price and shipping?
Thanks!

If you are going to be basing the wire on price....
the cheapest source I've found for PVC insulated stranded wire in different colors is to reclaim the wire from old control cables. You can try local scrap dealers, etc. The wire is good quality, but it is a bit of work to remove the outer covering on the cables, and you may have to guess at the working voltage.

Thanks Guys!
Radiodaze only sells 22AWG. Any concerns about using 22AWG in place of 20AWG?

Free air ampacity for 20AWG=11A, 22AWG=7A. It's lower for bundled wires or other conditions. So it might be ok to substitute, depends what you're using it for.

I'd be leary in parallel filament voltage feeds, especially if the tube socket wiring is daisy chained. The voltage drop on the lighter AWG wire might have to much resistance and cause a voltage drop, especially at the last tube being fed filament voltage. It would be even more critical for early sets using 2.5 volt tubes because of the increased current draw.
to be safe:
Never go with a lighter gauge than was used originally for the filament wiring.

Troll thrift shops and or Goodwill stores for the old 25 conductor parallel printer cables. You can find them as long as 25 foot. Lots of wire inside <g>

Whatever wire you find, be sure to look at the voltage rating on it. Most of the new stuff I see has a max of 300V , whereas many old radios can run up to 600V. Typically I just by the 600V wire.

Thanks Frank - good advice on the voltage requirements.
Doesn't anyone here buy 20 AWG wire and have a recommendation?

Just bought some 20 gauge rolls from All electronics.com. Prices seem pretty decent. Check out there site Stan Ski
