I would like advice on how to price used 6SN7's from an source such as me who has not yet developed a track record as a trusted source.
What I have are:
1. 6SN7GT CBS Clear glass black base with code 6135
2. 6SN7W JAN CBS Sylvania. (says all this on base) Brown base. Top of tube also says 6SN7GT
3. 6SN7 GTB Tung-Sol
4. 6SN7GTA Sylvania
5. 6SN7GTA GE
6 4 other GTB/ or GTA like above
They are all clear glass.

Checking internet turns up values all over the place. Would just as soon sell them here rather than mess with Ebay.

Is there indeed anything special about any of these?
Your sage advice is welcome.

Hi Gordy

For most of us a 6SN7 is a 6SN7. GTB is heavier duty for TV use. Audio guys hear a difference in construction of the tubes. To me there isn't a difference. Some like "W" marked tubes made for military. Actually for early TV's these didn't work as well for horizontal oscillators. May have less internal capacity?

Might want to watch eBay and read comments. Brands, construction, clear glass, color of base, height etc go for different prices.

And pigs still dont fly....just audiophools.

You didnt mention if those tubes are NIB or just a bunch of loose used ones. Audiophools wont touch a used one unless you can show its reading on one of their "approved" model tube testers and if its a very "rare" type.

A fair one is worth about $3.00- $6.00 US. Matching is pretty much not relevant in most applications. Anyone wants to pay more, I have a load of them.

I sold a slightly used 1946 Tung-Sol 6SN7GT with round plates for $43 + shipping. It came out of my Scott 16A console. I replaced it with 6SN7GTA that sounded the same. 6SN7GTA is slightly uprated version with higher plate dissipation. 6SN7GTB adds controlled heater warm up. I have dozens of all variants, mostly GTB that came from an old organ.

I have dozens of NIB Baldwin labeled GTB's made by GE, all from the same batch. I wont say how much the audiophools are paying :D

Audiophool prices are based on appearance and rarity. There are huge numbers in existence and you probably don't have any of the currently-desirable ones, but you might get lucky. Otherwise, as noted, a rose is a rose and most radio/TV collectors have more on hand than they will ever use, so they're not going to bring much money here.

If you have the time, it's worth checking against the audiophool hit list, sell one or two to them, and then if you get two bucks apiece for the rest you're still ahead of the game.

Never noticed any difference in sound from good 6SN7s, of whatever suffix designation. As long as the emission is good, and the two triodes are balanced if needed, use any that are available. 5692s will work, too, but the audiophools have priced those beyond my purse lol.
