I recently purchased a new 6G5 tuning indicator "magic eye" tube for my hallicrafters SX-11 receiver as the old one was dim. I got to wondering about the life span of these type tubes and if I should buy another one to have for a spare while they're still available. Does anybody have any idea on how long these type tubes last before starting to go dim?

All I cn tell you is that if you have your set in a dark room and only fire it up once a week for a couple of hours, you'll likely not need a spare. I have some test stuff with bulbs older than the hills that are still quite bright. If you do get a spare, keep it in the dark.
