Hello from Pittsburgh. my name is brian and i am glad to be here on your site. I have started to really get into vintage record players and i have purchased two Steelman models both in very rough shape. i have started work on my little 3S8 model as it seems fairly simple. I am, however, having problems finding an Electrolytic capacitor I need. it is a 50/30 150volt unit. can anyone point me in the right direction?

You need to buy two discrete replacement capacitors. You can use a 47 mf to rreplace the 50 and a 33 mf to replace the 30, as these are modern values. Observe the polarity. The original has a common negative, and you will make it so by joining the negative wires of the new replacement capacitors together. Cut the old part out and discard it.
Make a list of everything you need to defray shipping charges.

thanks to all of you for the quick responce. i'm going to place an order monday. this single tube amp looks easy enough to rebuild, I just dont know what the new component counterparts are. I will get a few pics of the unit up next week and any input you guys have to make it better is greatly appreciated!
