Does anyone know the reputation for failure of 1960s vintage Acushnet Acu-Caps? I have two of them in a Drake 2A that I have not yet replaced.

I can't say that I've seen a ton of Acushnet caps but the
ones that I did encounter were always good.I always felt
that these were good quality caps in the same league
as Dearborn and John E Fast caps.Never saw any of those go
bad either.I would just leave them alone and enjoy the radio.

Swanson

All that brand Ive tested at full working voltage have had no leakage so they may be similar to the red label film Black Beauties of the same era. All my 60's HP gear with those are still perfect. OTOH Acushnet may have had paper construction as well, never took one apart.

Id still test every one or just replace on "principle"....whatever that means

A "principle" is something you invoke when you can't find a better excuse.

How could a capacitor made by a golf ball manufacturer ever be bad? :)

Or a capacitor with the same name as the whaling ship that Herman Melville sailed on -- at least until he jumped ship in Tahiti to live on the beach and hang out with cannibals.

There is no relationship.
Acushnet Capacitor Company Inc is the complete name, no longer in business.
