What an excellent opportunity for the top turret gunner! I would have pulled it into the tightest loop possible and go after the crow and give it a taste of propellor.

I figured it was too easy....
It's from the movie "The Right Stuff". A very entertaining movie, with a lot of liberties taken against history.

I shouldn't have given a clue. I have all this crap in my head. Trivia, crap, whatever. Its seems like I can't forget stuff. My ROM is full. Mostly worthless crap also. Everybody else retains the smart stuff. The stuff that makes them rich and famous. Me? I remember, things like: " Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee."

A bunch of the local guys and gals who are into R/C airplanes used to have a place near our local airport where they would fly their planes. That was before the runway and taxiway expansion several years ago, and now that field does not exist any longer.
But I remember going to that field on weekends and spending an afternoon just watching the model airplanes flying. There was a hawk or maybe a falcon that had a nest nearby and it did not like the model airplanes it seemed.
It would try attacking the model airplanes just like a BF-109 taking on a B-17. It would come out of the sun and much higher in a dive on the model. It would not hit the model, but would come very close to it, within a foot or two and then dive under it and pull up and go around for another pass.
The guys flying the models got quite a kick out of dogfighting with that bird and it did put on a good show. This would go on nearly every weekend that the weather was nice enough for the guys to be out flying their models. I don't seem to recall any accidents ever happening or collisions with model and bird.

I like how the pilot is clearly attempting to evade the bird - just watch how the horizon pitches around. He is pulling some hard turns. Heh. Unfortunately, the bird has seen it all before + seems to be rated for much higher G's.
I suspect that what we are seeing is a glider.
