Is there a way to post a thumbnail linked to photobucket? Most of my pics are taken with my phone at a resolution of 1024 X768 and of course I get the image is too wide notification. Photobucket gives the link to use as a thumb like this :
<a href="http://s1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc399/ku4by/?action=view&current=2011-06-15170558.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc399/ku4by/th_2011-06-15170558.jpg" border="0" alt="" ></a>
But no matter what I tried, I can't get any of the ways to work in this forum. I only end up seeing the code in the preview. Since I'm not going to go in and shrink all of my pics, I figured the thumbnail would be the way to go.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Steve

You can use photobucket to resize your photos to 800 x 600 or 640 x 480, then just use the IMG tags and copy and paste them to your post.

If you just want to use photobucket thumbnails, simply copy and paste it's URL. I don't know where you got the long code you posted but part of it does contain the picture's URL. http: //i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc399/ku4by/th_2011-06-15170558.jpg (I broke the URL at http: so the forum wouldn't truncate it.) When I selected/highlighted the URL part, copied and pasted it into my forum message box then added the Img codes, your picture appears just fine. The forum will only let pictures appear if the picture's actual URL is posted along with the Img codes. Dave

My link above was supposed to be a clickable thumbnail which would open a larger image if you clicked on it. You got the thumbnail to show up but it's not linked to the original. I was able to do this as well but that defeated the purpose and I only ended up with the tiny thumbnail.
As far as resizing goes, I know I can do it through photobucket, but it would be easier to re-size it in the post using html like I do in other places such as Ebay or Yahoo Groups. I prefer to keep the images at their original size as I sometimes use them in multiple places which is why I wanted to use the clickable thumbnails.
I suppose I could just create a new album for this forum and only resize those images.
Thanks,
Steve

Wow! I never knew that option existed in Photobucket. Are you using the "IMG Thumb" option in your account settings? Seems to work fine for me. I can click on my thumbnail photo and get a larger image. Dave

That's what it was! The image thumb. I don't have to use it on any of the other forums, I can usually just use the thumb link. Somehow that became unchecked and since I never use it I forgot about it. This makes it so much easier to do what I was trying to do. Now you only have to load the original image if you want to. Thanks Dave! Steve

I know there is not a way to imbed a Youtibe video, but there was a way to put an image of the video you could then click on to open.
I know you can post the link to the video, but someone posted one that showed one frame with the click icon.
I have tried many ways, I'm probably missing something easy. No big deal, but I can't find the post that had it showing.

I tried posting this image, and it said it was too big. I re-sized it and it's under 800 but apparently it still thinks it's too big. I have posted photo's before, so is there a problem still?? Yes I used the IMG tags and also tried using the link for IMG that photobucket provides. copy/paste/done.....yet its not. http://i868.photobucket.com/albums/ab24 ... G_0925.jpg

I've discovered that I can use the IMG method on photo bucket if my photos are portrait oriented, but not if they are landscape oriented. So all my landscape oriented pictures get posted using the clickable thumb nail option that some wise person posted in response to my complaint on the forum upgrade sticky topic. I still (for the record) hate having to use the clickable thumb nail method, but at least I CAN post photos now.

For whatever reason, the new forum works the same for me as it always did when posting pictures, whether it be with my own picture hosting FTP site or when uploading pictures to our Photo Gallery. It took a little getting acquainted with when using the photo Gallery but the method is the same.
I dunno?

I just wish that we could upload photos directly from the computer without using some online service like photobucket. I belong to other forums that have this feature. The site accepts any .jpg, just like uploading to a site like photobucket, but of course there are size restrictions. My Sony has an 'email' setting. That usually works. Terry

Terry,
That's the "attachment" method described in this thread. You don't need a hosting site if you use that method. You upload to the forum directly from your computer.

Will a pic that was up loaded to the forum as a attachment still be seen if it is deleated from my computer?I ask this because once i'm done a project i usually burn all the pics i took to a cd and then deleat them from my computer and it would be a real shame if all the pics dissapered from my restoration thread.

I'm sure Alan will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the forum server has a separate storage area for the "attached" photos. Otherwise, the attachments wouldn't be visible to others when your computer is turned off or off-line.

not sure you used the right way first put [img]then%20add%20link%20then%20add[/img] CrumblingWires wrote: I just went back Again & tried Agian to paste the SMALL pic size addy in between the img tags *(img)(img)* I had to move curser out of in between the tags, then tried to put the curser in between them manually, got the temp file addy to post in between them after the 2nd try. Submitted the edit & It tells me it cannot determine picture size!! Obviously to no avail it didn't take, even though the temporary file loaded it correctly when I added it on 6-14-11 Lloyd
