Both HP and Kodak printers include OCR programs, but don't explain it that its available.

The problem with OCRs, is they cant handle tables or multi-columns of text.

I am working on the Transistor Index for Sams. I am having to cut and paste each column, and there are 6 columns on each of 9 pages. I have to use a graphics program such as XNView to make the PDF files into JPGs then use FreeOCR to convert to text. This is going to take some time. I did take the file of Trade-names and convert to Text and made a Excel file for it, it only took me from 7pm to 5 am so I was up all nite.

The chart needs a column for city and date first sold.

I didn't really bother looking through the chart before, but it is as I expected... there are a LOT more recognized trade names for fans. About 1,000 have been identified so far. Can you believe that!?!?

Yes that would be nice, anyone have a compilation like that?
I would be willing to work on that too.
On the manufactures of tube radios there are quite a number of Addresses.

On My Sams TSM Index (For Transistors) there are 3440 different model # with some that have multiple sequence model numbers.

There are lists around in old publications.
Greenwood and McMahon's vintage radio reference book has a list of the most common.
Radio News magazine had listings every once in a while.
Some of the old price guides have a similar listing.
Radio Museum dot org and other on line sites could probably fill in most of the information not available elsewhere.
