I Just thought that this might be helpful to everyone who wants a way to showcase pics without worrying about bandwith. I use Dropbox to host my pictures of my current restoration. its free and really easy http://db.tt/AfEA8eWSIf you use the link you get 2.25 gigs free. Just a quick tip. Here is the link to my Zenith restoration: https://www.dropbox.com/gallery/6192072 ... d?h=b14331UPDATE: They have upped the space to 2.5 gigs free

While I don't use it for photos, I do work on certain files from multiple computers. In the past, it's been a nuisance trying to make sure I'm using the most current version of a particular file. By saving them in my Dropbox folder, it's automatically saved an updated to all my systems at the same time. This way, I'm assured I always have the most current one to work on. I like that. You can also create separate folders to share files with others too. That's come in handy lately, since a friend of mine and I are working on some course material. As we finish and/or update each lesson, it's saved in the shared Dropbox folder and he gets automatic notification of what's been done. We always have the most current files available to us on our own systems as well as the Dropbox site. Not bad for free.

I'm always a little leery of 'free'. What's the catch? advertising popups? Annoying messages urging the user to 'upgrade' to the 'professional edition' for $$?
Just curious,
Tom

Tom,
Right now, the only catch I am seeing is the amount of space I have available to me to store my files. I haven't seen anything else that seems to bug me.
Can't speak for others experiences though.

Just curious,
Tom none. completely free. no popups of any kind. as for security, I use it for my job as a web designer for one of the big three automakers and they specifically asked me to use dropbox when handling certain files. even banks use the software. http://db.tt/AfEA8eWSI really like it for how simple they make it to host your photos. no waiting for it to upload, no restrictions on file or picture size, It makes my life so much easier. https://www.dropbox.com/gallery/6192072 ... d?h=b14331If you want more space you can always upgrade, but they don't shove it in your face. I've been using it for a year and have had not one popup on the matter.

OK, thanks. I was curious because they have to make money somehow. But I'm glad your experience with it has been a good one.

It sounded pretty good until I read this: In April 2011, Dropbox modified its privacy policy. “We may disclose to parties outside Dropbox files stored in your Dropbox and information about you that we collect when we have a good faith believe that disclose is reasonably necessary.”
"Reasonably necessary" to me means necessary to make a profit. I still would use for photos, but personal or business files? No way.

I use photobucket, no obnoxious emails and the free storage appears to be unlimited. I'm not 100% sure if it is, but for my needs anyway, it hasn't notified me that I'm using up my limited space. I upload ~30 pictures a month. Another good one is Flickr. There's not a lot of room to store photos, but if you do opt for the paid version it's a very nice and crisp way to display your photos: professional.

At work we have files that are constantly being updated, but which are necessary for each of the two of us in our department to have access to all the time. We use Dropbox for this. The files are public domain files anyway, so security is not an issue. The service is awesome.

Great site that Dropbox, heres what I have gotten the last three times I tried to access either one of the links you provided. Not my computer because every other site I try to access comes up.... maybe its not so good. ~jeff~ The website declined to show this webpage HTTP 403 Most likely causes: •This website requires you to log in. It worked for me . Jeff, it may be your cookies, or clearing your cache, or some such thing. Or maybe just the version of computer program you are using. I use XP, which is out of date, as I understand. There are many programs that I can't download anymore until I buy a Windows 7 or a new computer with Windows 7 installed. But, for now, it worked for me .
